Student ED (Education) Visa
120-hour Thai Language and Culture programme
The guaranteed ED Visa, which is granted to enrollees of this course, is, in fact, a fifteen-month visa, but one which, apart from the first application, frees students from the tedium of having to go on monthly visa runs to a foreign border. Initially, it is necessary to go one last time to apply for a temporary three-month ED Visa to a Thai embassy out of Thailand, such as Vientiane, Laos; Penang, Malaysia; or Singapore. After three months, the student becomes eligible for a full one-year ED Visa, which can then be renewed at three-month intervals at Pattaya Immigration Office, Jomtien Soi 5. Or in central Bangkok.
The ED Visa carries virtually all the benefits of a Residence Visa, such as eligibility to:
- apply for a Thai driving licence;
- open a Thai bank account, with credit card (subject to certain conditions);
